Weekend for Sand Diving

SandBest Selling author, Hugh Howey, changed my life when he created a fictional technology called sand diving. First seen in his novel, Sand, this technology combines a scuba diving type of suit with electromagnetic powers to help treasure hunters survive in a fictional America covered in sand. The suit sends EM power to the diver’s fingers and toes, while a visor connected to their temple transmits what they think and see to affect the sand around them. They can make it as fluid as water or as hard as stone, creating pathways into buried cities if they have the courage and air supply necessary to make the trip. The hardening aspect helps if you need to break through someone or something in your way.

Sand was my favorite read of 2014, and has plans for a sequel sometime soon, so it was an incredible honor for Hugh to give me permission to publish my own story in his world. Scavenger-Evolution final frontMy goal with the novel I wrote, Scavenger: Evolution, was to have fun with his world and sand diving technology without spoiling the story of Sand, nor making it required reading before enjoying mine.

Scavenger: Evolution is the story of a family torn apart by the loss of their infant who must turn to each other and a talent with sand diving to stop a new apocalypse. The first apocalypse covered their world in sand, and as they run for their lives, they discover the technology that has been dormant for hundreds of years, since the last time it was set free.

This weekend I am making the ebook version $0.99 (here) and the paperback $9.99 (thru this link). The first link is for the Kindle version, but if you would like a DRM-free version, you may email me at tim@timothycward.com. The link for the paperback is from my personal store, which means I can sign and personalize it, but only ships to US.

The audiobook is being made by the supremely talented Dave Robison and Wonderthing Studios, with an estimated release date of Nov. 30 (Cyber Monday). Here’s a sample of the audiobook. The sequel, Scavenger: A.I., will be finished before the end of the year.
